Newton House at Dinefwr Park, a National Trust property at Llandeilo in Carmarthenshire. Supposedly the Trust's most haunted property - I do ghost tours there from time-to-time. "Most Haunted" has filmed there twice. On the first occasion in the so-called Creepy Corridor their cameraman captured a wisp of something white and ghost like floating along the corridor towards him. One of the few times they have actually spotted something like it on film. They also filmed an old wheelchair moving while there was no-one near (invisible thread anyone?). Both can be seen on You Tube.
Hi Dan - great slant on the effect. I have attached a pdf with some Scottish Ghosts (13) with a little explanation about each. My favourite is 'Goblin Ha' at Yester Castle - haunted by - Sir Hugo de Giffard also known as the 'Wizard of Yester', and was considered to be a powerful warlock and necromancer. The underground chamber is said to have been built by his army of Hobgoblins which were at is beckon call. In the pdf there are another 12 of the usual types to add to your list. If you need any more info let me know. Scottish Ghosts.pdf (555.79 KB)
Ye Olde Dolphin Inn, Derby. This public house dates back 500 years, and hosts 'the vault of terror' legend. in the 18th century, a young doctor secretly had the corpse of a young woman brought to him at the inn one night. He took it into the cellar – which lies directly below what is now the lounge – and used her to practice dissection. He started by cutting open her stomach to remove her entrails. However, she turned out not to be dead – simply comatose and as he began to cut her eyes opened and she sat up screaming. She had been mistakenly declared dead! She ran from the room trying to hold her insides together, but before long she died from a combination of the blood loss and shock! The official cause of death was recorded as ‘death by rude awakening’. The doctor was also in shock and lived out the rest of his life in an asylum! Regulars claim that the girl’s screams are still heard at night coming from the cellar!
Ok, the final list is done! Thanks to everyone for their contributions, to be honest there's enough Great British ghosts to do several editions of this effect, but for now here are the first 26 -
