I'm a hobbyist and fairly new to the whole bizarre world - still finding out what works for me and what doesn't. Is Doomsday the right venue for someone like me to visit, or is it too professionally-oriented? I'm coming from the mainland, so it would be quite costly to just hop by. Any advice is much appreciated!
Thanks for the feedback. I'm not "up to speed", still learning and reading, but I'm very interested in the methods, techniques and the psychology behind it all. It's what's drawn me to the community in the first place.
My bad, I was using the term "mainland" from a European view :-) I'd be coming from Belgium.
Doomsday is excellent, and is unique as there is a performance/lecture/workshop space, accommodation on site and nearby food (mostly on site ), great grounds and, of course, the friendliest of late night bars on site. Even if the new venue doesn't quite tick all the boxes (I hope it does ) I'm pretty sure all the friendliness, discussion and creativity will some still be there. (As well as the demons and devilry)
Justcookin... Wino Caestecker comes over from Belgium every year. He's a great guy, and I'm sure he wouldn't mind you contacting him on Facebook, as he'll not only be able to put you at ease but will also know the best/cheapest travel arrangements. I was in your shoes the first time I turned up, and I have never felt more accepted anywhere. I'll throw my hat in the ring here and say come along, when you get there, the first beer is on me!
